Executive Business Coach for High Achieving Women

Hi, I’m Karin. I spent most of my career as the only senior female leader in the room, not belonging and needlessly worrying about not being good enough.

Being good enough wasn’t the problem, though it took me the better part of twenty years, and more exhaustion than I would recommend to anyone, to understand it.

There was no support, so I supported the women around me. I am so passionate to support more women feeling stuck and overwhelmed, so I founded my own boutique coaching company called, Stuck?

I coach high-achieving women who are brilliant at their jobs but quietly running on empty. The ones everyone leans on. The ones who hold it all together at work and at home and make it look effortless, then drive home shattered and unable to switch their brains off. If you have read this far, and sounds familiar, WELCOME, this is the place for you.

The one thing that would have helped most, someone who had experienced this and could show me the way through, but it did not exist. So I became the role model, advocate, mentor, signposter, drum beater for women around me.

How I got here

I did not start anywhere near a boardroom.

I grew up with very little, and had a burning desire to do my best, even though I had very low self esteem. I was proactive, studied in evenings, took risks wildly outside my comfort zone.

In my twenties I moved home for roles, travelled the world for business trips, trained as a Marketer, then moved into leadership and became a Sales and Marketing director with huge responsibilities before the age of 30. I was hungry to achieve, terrified, out of my depth and I kept going whatever the personal cost.

Over the next twenty-five years I led teams and delivered results across O&G, IT and telecoms, engineering and medical device manufacturing, in marketing, sales and sales operations, and eventually running the operations (production, service, and distribution centre for a global manufacturer.

I made changes those businesses had never seen, and I have the awards to prove it, from a CRN A-Lister early in my marketing career to a Global Best Plant award for the transformation my team delivered recently. I picked up an MBA with Distinction from the University of Manchester during Covid, while changing industry, complete job function diversification, moving my family across the country and raising my daughter, all at the same time, because (apparently) I am versatile and work hard!

On paper, I was thriving. Underneath it, I was exhausted.

To fit companies that were not built for a woman, I observed, adapted, moulded and masked so much of myself that I lost track of which parts were still me.

It worked. I delivered, I was noticed.  I was considered ‘high potential’, was invited to leadership talent development. And it cost me personally.

I had drive and ability, and imposter syndrome, no mentor, no role model, no network and no map, and a habit of working into my evenings to close a gap I though needed to be filled.

I came close to burning out doing work I was good at and, from the outside, loved.

And this was just my professional life, being a mother amplified the demands and the overwhelm.

The one thing that would have helped most, someone who had experienced this and could show me the way through, but it did not exist.

So I became the role model, advocate, mentor, signposter, drum beater for women around me.

Talented women chose leadership roles, diversity, creativity, innovation flourished as a result, but the same patterns of overwhelm, fear, imposter syndrome and increasing demands keep coming up for these female leaders.

This was a trend and they wanted support.

What I believe

You have proven your excellence, your resilience, determination and behaviours got you here.

You do not need to become more capable, take more training courses.

Instead you need consciously understand yourself; behaviours, emotions, beliefs, values and beliefs to understand why you feel they way you do. Then you have the power to make choices.

Success can feel as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. If it does not, something needs to change.

Women can lead authentically, boldly and without apology. I have watched it happen, again and again.

Nobody should have to work it all out alone. No one handed me a map, so I am here to walk alongside you on this transformation journey.

Life beyond work

I live in Conwy, a walled medieval town on the North Wales coast.

I kept a touring caravan on a park here for ten years, my husband, daughter and dogs little retreat.

Covid meant we could not cross from England into Wales to reach it, we did the only sensible thing and moved, in 2022.

Executive retreat Conwy Wales

My daughter settled straight in to a new school and learned Welsh.

Home is a detached Edwardian house, first built by a local shipbuilder for his own family, later requisitioned by the government and marked for demolition, and now our long, slightly mad project to bring back to its former glory, with a modern twist...

Restoring things other people had given up on turns out to be rather a theme with me. My husband and I also rescued a stone fisherman’s cottage inside the town walls and let it as a holiday cottage for most of the year.

And there is always a dog or two under my feet, Tilly and Skye, our Cavachons, and Jessie the cat, two of them rescues, all three convinced they run the place.
